Questions

How many eclipses are there between 2026 and 2030?

NASA/GSFC lists 12 solar and 12 lunar eclipses from 2026 to 2030: 4 total, 4 annular and 4 partial solar eclipses, and 4 total, 4 partial and 4 penumbral lunar eclipses.

Why do eclipses come in pairs?

Eclipses can only happen when the Moon crosses the plane of Earth’s orbit near new or full moon. That alignment lasts a few weeks (an “eclipse season”), so a solar eclipse is usually accompanied by a lunar eclipse two weeks before or after. Eclipse seasons come round about every 173 days.

Can I add eclipses to my calendar?

Yes. Use “Download .ics” to add the eclipses in the filtered list (or just your starred ones) to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Each event is centred on the moment of greatest eclipse.
